THE TRADITIONAL CAT CREED
I am a Friend of the Traditional Cat....
I may be an owner, a breeder or just an admirer of this ancient and beautiful
Purebred....
I respect the men and women of past ages who have preserved and guarded this
most treasured of cats from distortion and impure influence....
I value the tradition and culture that have grown up around the Traditional
cat through the thousands of years it has shared in the history of mankind....
I believe that this type cannot be improved, but need only be preserved in
its natural superiority and health....
I am glad to share my pleasure in Traditional Cats with new people who want
to be introduced to one of the world’s living treasurers....
I enjoy this type for the activity and enjoyment it offers to me, and for the
opportunity to befriend an intelligent and noble animal....
I am aware that it is a mark of distinction to own and enjoy Traditional Cats
in the 21st Century, as it has been in countless centuries gone by....
I will not cheapen this ancient type with behavior that betrays me as being
something less than the guardian the cat deserves....
I will abide by the rules that have been established for the showing of the
Traditional cats, and where I believe the rule has not been carefully defined, I
will work through my club or Association for a better or more careful
definition....
In my personal enjoyment of Traditional Cats I will protect them from injury,
abuse, and any other form of neglect or cruelty....
In the public enjoyment of Traditional Cats I will dedicate myself to the
principles of good sportsmanship, winning and losing with a grace that equals
the cat I am showing....
Measured against the other cats of the world, every Traditional Cat is a
Champion and deserves to be owned and cared for only by those who can qualify
for the same title....

THE SPORTSMAN'S CHARTER
That sport is something done for the fun of doing it and that it ceases to be
sport when it becomes a business only, something done for what there is in it;
That amateurism is something of the heart and spirit - not a matter of exact
technical qualifications;
That the good manners of sport are fundamentally important; that the code
must be strictly upheld;
That the whole structure of sport is not only preserved from the absurdity of
undue importance, but is justified by a kind of romance which animates it, and
by the positive virtues of courage, patience, good temper, and unselfishness
which are demanded by the code;
That the exploitation of sport for profit alone kills the spirit and retains
only the husk and semblance of the thing;
That the qualities of frankness, courage, and sincerity, which mark the good
sportsman in private life, shall mark the discussions of his interests at a
show.
The above was taken from The American Horse Shows Association, 1978 Rule Book
- Author unknown.

KNOWLEDGE OF RULES
A knowledge of the rules of any sport is required of each participant, and
the exhibitor at a Recognized Show is in no way exempt from this responsibility.
A complete knowledge of and compliance with the rules are essential and the
exhibitor must be fully cognizant of all the rules as well as class
specifications in the Divisions in which he or she shows.
It is obvious that, however complete rules may be, they never can cover all
possible situations which may arise. If a matter cannot be solved by
interpreting the rules to the letter, the solution to be adopted by those
responsible should lie in a principle that follows as nearly as possible the
spirit of the rules.

INTRODUCTION
YESTERDAY: Back in 1987 in an attempt to find a Siamese similar in body type
to those that I had owned and bred in my youth, I began a search through letter
writing and cat show attendance. The result was a letter, which was published in
a national cat magazine, which lead to responses from 19 breeders of this type
of Siamese cat. Follow up requests from over 500 persons looking for the same
type of Siamese cat lead to the formation of The Traditional Siamese Breeders
and Fanciers Association (c).
On February 19, 1992 the name of this Association was changed to: The
Traditional Cat Association, Inc. â
ã
.
TODAY: Success of our kitten Referral Service has been achieved with over
30,000 snail mail requests having been received for our List of over 70 breeders
in the U.S.A., Canada and Europe. With a monthly Newsletter and a sustaining
membership near 200, T.C.A., Inc. has firmly established its purpose and goals.
Our motto is: To Protect, Preserve, Perpetuate, and Promote the Traditional Cat.
We are a democratic group run solely by the majority.
TOMORROW: Our goals have been recognized as positive, not only by Siamese
enthusiasts, but also by enthusiasts of other cat breeds. This along with the
establishment of sound Breed Standards and a Constitution and By-Laws have
become the foundation for the formation of the TCA, Inc. Registry. Our Registry
is focused on preserving the traditional qualities and blood stock of all
Traditional cats of the various breeds. We hope our success with the Siamese
breed will be shared by other breeds to bring back the healthy, long lived,
Traditional Cats to the cat fancy as a whole.
